Wisdom 1–2: Stuck in the Middle
We discuss the two paths laid out before us all—wisdom and folly—and the conflict that stirs at the divide
In this week’s installment of “Bad” Books of the Bible, we introduce some key characters in the Wisdom of Solomon: the Just, the Unjust, Wisdom, and . . . us, the audience.
We explore what position God occupies relative to these characters, both as observer and judge, and look at the conflict brewing between the Unjust (the fools) have with the Just (the wise)? The church fathers identify the Just man with Christ; we unpack that a bit as well.
Related to the conflict between the Unjust and the Just, we discover the deep history of death. God created man for immortality, as the author tells us, but the envy of the devil brought death into the world. Listen to the episode here:
